Actress backs new cinema for town
Nov 30, 2009
Actress Tilda Swinton has backed efforts to reopen a cinema in Nairn for the first time since the 1970s. The Oscar-winning actress, who has a home in the town and has staged two film festivals there, was the inspiration for Cinema Nairn's bid.
She attended the group's screening of classic films in Nairn community centre. The Wizard of Oz was among the films shown.
Sunday's event was held to gauge local support for the plan.
Swinton said: "It is just what every little town not only needs and deserves, but used to have. I think it is just wonderful. "
