Kylie Minogue shouts British crew a Christmas dinner
Dec 22, 2008
CHRISTMAS with Kylie has all the trimmings, a reasonable price tag and is brimming with fun.
The pop princess threw her 85-strong concert crew a Christmas dinner at South Melbourne gastro pub Lamaro's on Sunday night.
Minogue and her "staff", which included acrobats, dancers and cameramen from her KylieX2008 show, arrived at the venue on a bus and dined on a specially designed Christmas menu.
The singer had requested the pub fare resemble a typical English Christmas dinner for her largely British crew.
Minogue herself gave the roasts a miss, opting for an entree of zucchini flowers and calamari as a main dish.
She had the chocolate pudding for dessert.
The entire bill came in at under $10,000.
Staff said the star led the team in Christmas carols, including a rendition of White Christmas. The crew then exchanged Kris Kringle presents, which were capped at $20.
Silly hats, miniature guitars and cheap flashing gadgets were among the colourful gifts.
Minogue, who dazzled in a floor-length navy silk gown, accessorised her outfit with tinsel from the table and a crown of fresh gardenias stolen from the vase in the bathroom.
"She apologised to me for taking the flowers," said restaurant partner Victoria Lambie.
"Of course we didn't mind, she was absolutely divine."
Minogue then asked to thank the chef, Todd Adams.
Adams, 32, said the meeting was a blur.
"I really can't remember talking to her . . . I think I was just blown away," he said.
