MEL B joined some of the UK's top musicians at the annual Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards last night.

The former SPICE GIRL arrived on the red carpet wearing a rather strange looking dress with a hood over her head - much like the outfit worn by GRACE JONES in Bond film A View To A Kill.

Mel was co-hosting the event, which is now in it's thirteenth year, with RUN DMC member REVEREND RUN at London's Wembley Arena.

Other female celebs who wowed waiting fans on the red carpet included ALESHA DIXON, who looked sultry in a floor-length dress, JAMELIA, who showed off her gorgeous pins in a short, sparkly black number and the SUGABABES, who all looked stunning.

The big winners at this year's MOBOs were British girls LEONA LEWIS and ESTELLE.

Estelle picked up Best UK Female and Best Song for American Boy, on a night that saw British artists triumph over their American counterparts.

Leona picked up Best Album for the multi million-selling Spirit at the star-studded awards ceremony as well as Best Video for Bleeding Love.

Rapper DIZZEE RASCAL was voted Best UK Male for the second year running.

While young MC CHIPMUNK, who is involved in the same music scene that Dizzee started out in, was crowned Best UK Newcomer.

American superstars were also honoured with RIHANNA'S boyfriend CHRIS BROWN named as Best International Act and Best R&B/Soul.

Former SUPREME MARY WILSON collected a Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of Motown to start the 50th anniversary celebrations of the record label that provided the soundtrack for an American generation.

She joined the Sugababes to perform a rendition of Supremes classic Stop! In The Name of Love with Wilson before the band left her alone to belt out Can’t Hurry Love, Come See About Me and Back In My Arms.

Organisers said the 13th Mobo Awards followed one of the highest public votes ever.

KANYA KING, founder and CEO of Mobo, said: “The Mobo Awards have continued to grow in strength for the past 13 years and I’m particularly delighted that British talent through artists such as Estelle and Leona receive the recognition they justly deserve.

“I hope that we can inspire a new generation of talent to follow their lead and fulfil their dreams to one day appear on our show.”
