NOBODY was more ecstatic than Nicola’s proud parents when she was named Ayrshire’s Supermodel 2008.
James and Ann were by Nicola’s side on her big night and were obviously thrilled at her success.
But doting dad James had no doubt his gorgeous girl had what it took to scoop the title.
He said: “We are both really excited and very happy for her.
“Nicola deserves everything that is coming her way. We have a son but Nicola is our only daughter so as her dad I always expected her to win.
“She’s a hard working girl and has brains as well as beauty. She’s worked hard studying for the last three or four years and is doing complimentary therapies at college.
“One of the nicest things about Nicola is that she doesn’t realise how good looking a young woman she is.
“We hope she’ll follow whatever path makes her happy, she’s a very strong-willed clever girl.”
The 20-year-old from Troon is currently studying at Glasgow College of Commerce.
And the modest student, who also works part-time in Debenhams, Ayr, was so convinced that one of the other beauties would take the title that she didn’t even know what the prizes were.
She said: “I’m still feeling really nervous. I was so taken aback when I walked in tonight.
“There were a lot of beautiful people in this competition.”
Nicola’s prizes include a stunning diamond necklace from Charles Chester jeweller of Irvine and Kilmarnock, a pamper day from Body Language in Kilmarnock, a dress from Glitz in Kilmarnock and shoes and a handbag from Lotus.
Photographer Tom Gibson will also create a gorgeous portfolio for her, vital for any aspiring model.
And there’s the opportunity to sign up with top Scottish model agency, The Look, who helped judge our contest.
Nicola was also presented with £500 worth of Reader Holiday vouchers from Scottish and Universal Newspapers – publishers of the Ayrshire Post, Kilmarnock Standard and Irvine Herald.
And the prizes don’t stop there for she also wins a celebration meal at the Treehouse, Ayr, with limo hire there and back, courtesy of West Coast Limousines.
